You can make it as mild or as fiery as you like, using simple ingredients you probably already have at home. Whether you enjoy it over ice or shaken smooth, this classic cocktail always hits the spot.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • Cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups good-quality tomato juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Leafy celery stalks, for serving
  • 3/4 cup vodka
  • 1 to 2 limes (depending on how juicy they are), halved
  • Montreal steak seasoning (or other steak seasoning or seasoned salt)
  • 4 to 6 dashes Worcestershire sauce

How To Make Bloody Marys?

  1. Prepare the jars: Fill two mason jars with ice.
  2. Add the base: Divide the vodka between the jars and squeeze in the juice from the lime halves.
  3. Season the mix: Sprinkle in steak seasoning, 2 to 3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce, and a dash of cayenne pepper into each jar.
  4. Pour the tomato juice: Top up each jar with tomato juice, then add a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  5. Stir and serve: Use a celery stalk to push one of the squeezed lime halves into the bottom of each jar, then stir the drink with the celery.
  6. Prefer it without ice? Screw on the lids, shake the jars for 20–30 seconds, then strain into serving glasses using the jar lids.

Recipe Tips:

  • Use fresh lime juice: Squeezing fresh limes makes a big difference—bottled juice just doesn’t taste the same.
  • Chill your tomato juice first: Cold juice helps your drink stay icy without watering it down too quickly.
  • Don’t skip the seasoning: A little steak seasoning or seasoned salt brings out the deep, savoury flavour of the tomato juice.
  • Adjust the spice level to your taste: Start with a pinch of cayenne and add more if you like it extra spicy.
  • Use leafy celery for stirring and serving: It adds crunch, flavour, and makes the drink look great too!

How To Store & Reheat Leftovers?

Let the leftover Bloody Marys come to room temperature first. Then, pour into a sealed jar or bottle and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Give it a good stir before serving again.
